Dennis Godecke, CPA, Principal

Dennis Godecke  

Dennis is a Certified Public Accountant and holds CPA licenses in California and Oregon. He attended Valparaiso University in Indiana where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1972.  His career began as an accountant and auditor for Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst and Young) in Portland, Oregon.  He and his wife, Tina, relocated to the Coachella Valley, and in 1977 Dennis became the owner and president of Dennis Godecke Accountant, Inc.  In 1991, his associate, Debra Clark was added to the company name and the firm became Godecke Clark.

Dennis has over 30 years of experience in all areas of accounting and tax return preparation, he is particularly well versed in the agricultural, construction and real estate industries.  His thorough understanding of possible tax and financial issues also provides wealth management for individuals with complex tax reporting needs.  His attention toward spotting problems and developing innovative solutions has made him a valuable resource for many successful local businesses.

In addition to his professional activities, Dennis has been active in the community as Chairman of the Living Desert Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Building Committee of the Family YMCA.

Debra Clark  

Debra attained her CPA status in 1991 while working as a staff accountant with Dennis Godecke Accountant, Inc. and raising two children. Originally hired by Dennis in 1982, she began her focus in public accounting while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting from National University, which she earned in 1989.  She has lived in the Coachella Valley since 1968, and began her lifelong love of accounting working privately for Denholm Seed Co. and Denson Realty.  In 1997, in recognition of her contribution to the firm, the name was changed to Godecke Clark.

Debra has a talent for business and computer consulting and is gifted with an ability to focus on and solve a wide variety of accounting and management problems.  Debra’s passion is assisting small business owners in implementation procedures to enhance their business performance.  She has a thorough understanding, from the basic bookkeeping and inner workings of a business to complicated financial and income tax reporting issues.  She has extensive experience with 1031 exchanges and working with real estate developers.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Debra has performed duties as a court appointed receiver, Women Leaders Forum speaker and lecturer for public organizations on tax law and other business-related topics.

Daniel Brush, CPA, CFP, Principal

Dan Brush   

Dan joined Godecke Clark in 1993 as a staff accountant and became a CPA in 1995. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, obtaining his bachelor's degree.  Dan spent 20 years in the automobile industry and then as a financial consultant for Prudential Securities prior to pursuing a career as a CPA.

His varied background gives a powerful base of experience when it comes to finance issues, securities, and financial and tax planning.  He has expertise in the areas of inheritance and trust matters and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).  He works with clients to identify and reach their tax, financial, and estate planning goals.  Dan also holds a license as a Registered Investment Advisor.

In addition, he is a member of the NASD Board of Arbitrators, which is a volunteer group of professionals who arbitrate disputes between individuals and brokerage firms.  Due to his experience and expertise, Dan is often selected to arbitrate cases involving securities and brokerage matters that have serious tax consequences.
